The surface Dynamic Terrain is an attempt in redefining the possibilities of three dimensional space
by linking digital data to physical space. Architectural surfaces with variables, that can be adjusted in
realtime, give people the freedom todesign their surrounding instantly. Architecture can be dynamic
and fluid as an organism that understands human needs and transforms accordingly to the body or
other circumstances.
Architectural organisms are creatures or data structures that can percieve and process information.
Dynamic Terrain is a modular prototype surface that could be applied for building structures and
interior use. Space should become flexible matter soup to be distorted, constantly reorganized and
saved for specific purpose. You can imagine dubbel clicking files in order to go to the livingroom.
A room could expand, if more people enter, doors would open depending on where you go, and
many other situations can be imagined in which this system could also be applied.
Dynamic Terrain is a functioning model of flexible architecture to be inspired from and help to think
of ways to make another step in redefining the possibilities of controlling and playing with matter
and space. Eventually an intelligent body evolves that we can communicate to like any other
creature, that understands its situation within the environment.
