Bio

Janis Pönisch was born in Starnberg, Germany in 1979. After finishing Abitur in Munich, he produced a series of unique furniture prototypes. In the year 2000 he started his study of architectonic design on the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where he produced architectural concepts, maquettes, interactive interfaces and animations. During the study he worked as an intern at the company Yens & Yens in the fields of electronic art, exhibition design and software development. In the summer 2005 he graduated from architectonic design department with the Rietveld design prize.
Janis Pönisch is now working as a designer in assingment and as an autonomous artist in Janisland, researching the processes of shapes, materials and functions of objects and space. He is visualizing and constructing three dimensional phantasies with a focus on the relationship between body and its environment and perception. Creating an own reality in a conscious way can only result in a wonderful world manifesting the materialized dream.
